About Me

My education and day job would tell you I'm a lawyer.  A corporate lawyer to be specific.  Think contracts, leases, negotiations, and paperwork... lots of paperwork.  Intellectually stimulating? Yes.  Soul nourishing? Not exactly.

My passion is food, and more recently, photography (I'm an amateur, but I'm happy to be learning).  I love all things food - cooking food, eating food, thinking food, talking food, photographing food...  Oh, and bacon.  I love bacon.  And wine.

Admittedly, my commitment to fitness was not initially fueled by a similar passion.  My obsession with food and wine (the need) coupled with meeting my husband Scott, a health and fitness coach (the guilt), led me to develop a habit of working out pretty regularly.    Scott owns Crossfit Vengeance in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, so naturally,  I participate in WODs 4 to 5 days per week, and I also follow a strength training regimen developed by Scott.  I tried running once.  I learned that I am not a runner.

Much like everything else in life, my goal is to find a healthy balance between food and fitness.  I created Barbells and Bellinis to share personally tested recipes that taste amazing, but won't require you to do 1,000 burpees afterwards to offset the damage.  The meals I cook on a day to day basis are centered on clean eating principles - using minimally processed foods and focusing on a healthy balance of lean proteins, vegetables and nutrient dense carbohydrates in each meal.  Of course, we throw in a few "cheat meals" every now and then.  Balance is the goal; not insanity inducing perfection.

The recipes on this blog are a combination of my own creations, adaptations of recipes I have found along the way, and other people's recipes I've tried and love.  Whenever I post recipes that are not my own, I will credit the source and link to where the original recipe can be found. A typical weekly menu will contain a combination of all three.

Scott and I live in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina with our Cane Corsos, King and Kloe.  Please feel free to send me an email if you want to know anything else!
